C16 storage life after opening

Post by steve cowan »

Anyone tell me how long C16 will last in the drum once opened and resealed?
Got a buddy who has a drum 12 months old he wants to use, I said it would be no good but couldn't give him a proper answer.
Application is methanol engine with C16 for the fogger system.
Thanks for any information

I have (had) a drum I just traded to a friend for his time to do my yard work for the summer.
Drum was new 4 years ago and 15 gallons used. The missing 15 was replaced and he is currently
using it and just today went his best ET and MPH by good bit over the E85 he had been running.

The drum was sealed up tight and covered, lifted of the ground with air space under it, stored
on a cement patio with a roof and no exposure from direct sunlight, rain snow etc.....
363 SBF turbo engine.
HTH.

Most fuel company's claim a shelf life of 2 years if stored properly. Start out small on the system and tune accordingly.

Decant into five gallon drums and store as you have so far.

Cheers.
