Post by engineman1642 »

anybody here can tell me how to remove the ball type plugs in the oil galleries on a john deere engine without putting this thing on a mill and cutting them out?

If you have access to an oxy actetlyne set you can use a normal welding tip not too large, and get the ball to just start to pool then snap the acetylene off and burn thru the ball with the oxygen. Works like a a cutting torch. If you dont have the ball hot enough (metal pooling) nothing will happen . I have used this method removing the ball bearings on toyota cast iron diesel heads and it works a treat.
