600 HP 350 SBC?
Fact or Fiction?
Having seen some claims here of above average 350ish SBC's and the listening to Joe's EMC interview made me wonder why these engines are not the norm now days.
Joe posted a peak horsepower of 613.3 and peak torque of 528. viewtopic.php?f=47&t=57597
What are ya'lls thoughts of a 600 hp 350 if even possible?

Circle track 350s with ported ( well less then 185 CC heads) iron heads where making 600 hp 30 years or more ago!
No I did not read that link, just talking in general.

You can cut a man's tongue from his mouth, but that does not mean he’s a liar, it just shows that you fear the truth he might speak about you!
Re: 600 HP 350 SBC?
I have built several 355-358” sbc with sportsman 2 cast heads that have made 640-660 hp it’s a lot of effort and attention to detail. But is certainly achievable

You'd probably have to go back through the years of Big Joe's posts where he says "total waste of money, you'll never notice the difference" and do exactly all of those things, lol.
Re: 600 HP 350 SBC?
Well that link doesn't work for me....so possibly I'm missing something. 600 horsepower 350's have been around a long time speaking broadly. Or are we talking with manifold vacuum , rpm, valvetrain, compression, valve angle 23° considerations? What is the criteria?

FYI, to listen to the interview, you will need a HotPass membership.GARY C wrote: ↑Sat Aug 03, 2019 3:39 am Joe posted a peak horsepower of 613.3 and peak torque of 528.

Not even all that difficult.
But not daily driver streetable & not a budget deal.
Needs to turn around 7200-7400 for peak & be capable of turning 7600-7800 to use it properly - so no skimping on the valve train.
Not a buy the bits & put it together build either, gotta think about it & tweak all the details.

In the early 90's we were making 725@9200 with a cylinder head that flowed 355@.800 at 304 cid.

legal 750 carb
most were sheet metal manifolds

I have not gone to the link, but what was the RPM limit for the EMC that year? I see what some have posted here but am sure most are well over that RPM.

Re: 600 HP 350 SBC?
What are you thinking, Gary. Hot but still somewhat driveable street engine or more high-strung?

Re: 600 HP 350 SBC?
is it still possible to find exotic nascar parts for this kind of project ? Such as heads that are to outdated to be competitive ? I know in the past i had a friend that did that.
