Riverside California machine shops

Post by 1972ho »

Anybody in the Southern California area know of any good machine shops other than Dougans I talked to the owner of Dougans a couple of months ago and he’s not taking on any outside machine work over the engines that they build and rebuild. Thanks

Specialized motor service is in Riverside .

I think QMP Racing in Chatsworth is about the best in the area. Brad is a motor head mad man that works on 5 blocks a day and has all the latest tech equipment.

Burbank Speed is also old school good.

I’ve heard about QMP from a friend I just didn’t want to drive close to 100 miles for a good machine shop.Ill check on the shop in Santa Ana.Thanks (I just can’t believe Dougans doesn’t want any other money) now I hope when that baja and trophy truck engine stuff peters out they don’t come begging for work.

2 things.
1: Driving 100 miles to find someone good at any particular trade is a very small price to pay.
2: Dougans sounds straight up and did you a favor.
The other side of that situation is you are told it might be a year to completion but you drop your stuff off anyway because they are your first choice.
Then a month down the road you complain to everyone how terribly slow they are.
Wise people these Dougans.

That wasn’t Dougans that took a year on my crankshaft that was a crankshaft grind shop,So if that’s something you care about you can go back and check it out.I have really never complained about Dougans work just questioned how the crankshaft was balanced and it may have turned out I was right.

Might be worth calling Brian at IMM (Indio Motor & Machine), who is also a member here. No, it's not "just down the street", but it's another option to consider.

I drive from Phoenix, Arizona to QMP. That’s 424 miles one-way.
I’ve had two engines machined there so far. They tell you when to come in, how much it will cost and when to pick it up.
So far, it all lines up when I pick it up!
