Yes, small solid roller
Walk in the park. 500 tq is more of a challenge than the 500 horsies but neither should be much trouble at all for something with some effort thrown at it. There are out of the box heads that could get that done. I have a suspicion you are intentionally understating your goals because of the TPI///understandable but dynoed with single 4.//solid roller 379 with ported heads and manifold////570 plus or its broken.
i was thinking along these lines as well and i seen 534 on the dyno paper,i thought it was ft/lbs,damn tricked myself again.
i am building a 4'' bore 383 at the moment with dart 180cc alloys
i was hoping for 550hp but now i am not sure....
This engine would have made 550+ with tuning. Just made pulls to break in. However, 570 is NOT happening on this dyno. Maybe the one down the street, but not this one. We all know comparing dyno numbers is foolish. I just compare these number to the 20 other engines I've had on this dyno.

Last month I had a 4.03 x 3.750 on this dyno with 10-5, 255/262 and .680 lift. Same carb and my import CNC 227 heads. Made 500@4900 and 553@6700 on 91 from the same pump I got fuel for my engine. Fuel, different carb, more vacuum pulled, and we found close to 600hp,

Thanks for the clarification, I got a bit mixed up.
The 4.03 deal is similar to what I am doing but I am at 11.6 compression, smaller head, 2.02 valve going to dyno with MS 101,103,109 fuel.
Similar cam to.

Here is a sheet from the other engine. Also we are at 4800 DA

Nice result/ should run good in a 3rd gen.//I always like to ask people after dyno testing/ what was learned and what would you do to improve it if given more time to develop/?

"Also we are at 4800 DA"
So these are uncorrected numbers?

If I wouldn't have decided to go with a Holley HP during the build, I would have used more cam and compression, injector.

When I started I was wanting to retain the stock ECM. But I was committed with parts when I switched.

I would be fine without ever messing with another EPROM//good choice ditching the antiquated OBD1 ECM

agree. I opted for the COP. So it will have a cool look to it with those and the elbow.

Many of the fast Chevy Super Stock cylinder heads have been ported and epoxied into an oval intake port.
The first Heads-Up, Dave Layer, cylinder heads I took a look at in the early 1980's, had oval port heads and the car was a record holder in its class.
Every Super Stock head that I do is oval and raised. That is why I wanted to try it on this.

However these flow way too much air to be this small and oval, IMO.
do you think the smaller faster super stock head would of made more power at the rpm level you are using
any chance of better intake ramming after the piston starts rising in the bore
does the 2.08'' valve help slow the air over the turn
got so many questions, those NHRA stockers amaze me

using a bigger cam is almost always a trade off//I would be more curious what you would do to the cylinder heads or intake manifold if more torque and horsepower through the same torque range was the "goal"///so to speak.///sometimes these deals can be interesting to discuss

I think a Super stock head will make more power on an engine up to this CID. The filling on those engines are crazy stupid. BUT they also have some amazing low friction short block going on. The 2.08 valve in this head was used because I had a nice set of Ferrea LS valves. But my first thought was to 2.150 it. Do it much like a 6500 rpm EMC engine.

A Super Stock flows 260cfm and around 1.9in² at the pinch. The make 540-550ft lbs on a 355.

I think this 205cc head would have worked with more cam. I built a 380 for my drag roaster. 4.155 x 3.50. Used the same head. 13-1, 260-260 with .680 retainer lift. Made 545@5400 and 677@7300. Same dyno. One reason I wanted to use this head with same bore/stroke.

more cam would be better at 4000rpm///5000rpm? I am still not sure if your saying that your dyno sheets are uncorrected and that you were doing testing at 4800DA???////

Having to bandaid the cam to accommodate the early EFI chip for the car?

Not really, I would still want a 6300 rpm peak even with the Holley. It's a street car. Never race it.

No I was saying this little 205cc head could/can handle more cam. Just mentioning we are at 4800 DA in these parts.
