Have you used the Rattler before? I've never tried one. Always wanted to, just never had an opportunity yet.

I had a Rattler on the old engine. It was fine.

No. going to dyno with carb. Dyno isn't set up and I don't want the grief.

And yes, I have too much money in it. lol

Had it on the dyno Saturday and heard a noise. Lost thrust. Brought it home. Found the issue and take it back Saturday.

Got one warm up pull to 6000 when we heard a "swoosh" or "whomp" sound from the bottom end. Caught it early.

Did make 479@4900 and 499@6000 w/30º of timing. It will be good once it's sorted out.

Well hopefully nothing too serious////should be on its way to making some good power //

Yea I found the problem. I could post the sheet, but it's so nasty looking, I'd catch grief! :)

All done. Made 7 pulls. Could have beat on it but it's going in the car with EFI.

Yea it's not a LS so it's not cool.. LOL

Needs a bigger carb, left power on the table but just wanted some break in runs, switch to EFI, and chassis dyno tune.

508@5000.. 534@6300.. 500hp from 5300-up. Needs a bigger carb.

3.48 stroke

Yes, small solid roller
Walk in the park. 500 tq is more of a challenge than the 500 horsies but neither should be much trouble at all for something with some effort thrown at it. There are out of the box heads that could get that done. I have a suspicion you are intentionally understating your goals because of the TPI///understandable but dynoed with single 4.//solid roller 379 with ported heads and manifold////570 plus or its broken.
i was thinking along these lines as well and i seen 534 on the dyno paper,i thought it was ft/lbs,damn tricked myself again.
i am building a 4'' bore 383 at the moment with dart 180cc alloys
i was hoping for 550hp but now i am not sure....
