SRH 2892

I may have asked this already, so don't dog me out too bad if I have.

I have a bracket 434 SBC shifting at 7000. It has stock Dragon Slayer heads on it and a 261-268 at .050" solid roller cam in it, with 12.5:1 compression, 1 7/8' headers, and running on VP 113.

It has a stock 2970 and a stock 1050 Dominator on it. It runs pretty good with that setup on it.

I have a fully ported SRH 2892 for a different engine that has had the works in terms of heat barriers and oil shedding coatings and all that done to it, and a vey nice 950 4150 carb.

Would it be worth it to try the fully ported 2892 over the stock 2970?

Did you at least ask Chad? He knows his products better than anyone and could tell you what to expect, I'm sure. I assume that's what SRH means, anyway.

Just out of curiosity 408Nova what kind of ET are you running with those heads and at what weight?

Great suggestion.
It is Chad Speier's work, and he did a great job by the looks of it. It's burr finished.

5.80's at 116 at 3090 lbs in the eighth mile. There might be a little more in it because it's a little lean and no timing loop has been done yet.

5.80's at 116 @ 3090 would take 775 hp I would't think there is anything left on the table.

Probably see minimal change either way you are maxing out the stock heads.

I'm thinking this thing would be very lucky to have 600 hp steve316? And that is on a good day. The engine was in an S-10 that weighs 2820 with a full fuel cell and I weigh 270.

It's going in a 68 Nova that weighs 100 lbs less. Maybe that will help it ET a little better.

I'd like to get the heads and intake out your way this winter to help them out some.

Wallace has it at 625-650... that seems more realistic

My guess may have be off at 775; so I went to wallace 1/8 mile cal. and it had it at 762.

Maybe I'm missing something here. Even 600 "observed" would take a world class car and effort to run those ET's at 3090. I agree with it likely being around 580-620hp(corrected) engine by looking at the sum of the parts. But I just don't see that running 5.80's at that weight. Maybe I need to reread.

Na car will run 22-25 mph out the back door over 1/8 mph, if geared for it.

140 mph traps at 3090 weight is 650 hp.

Wallace 1/8 calc is off imo for a na car. I think its assuming much more gain in mph in the top end if you compare 1/4 calc to the 1/8. For my turbo car that gained 35 mph on the back end, its pretty close

Can I ask what gear, converter, trans, and finish line cross rpm it has currently? Thats impressive....
