F4B. If you have can get your hands on an Air Gap they're better.

The Performer Intake will strangle those promax heads above 4500 , but drivablity will be great if you have crap for gearing , so it may be trade off time depending on the Cam your running.

That is very encouraging, considering I just bought a set of them myself. Out of curiosity, what are your cam specs? Did you use the f4b because of hood clearance?
Was these the 9175 heads? Any port work done?

So that Intake Manifold let you use 203 cfm of what those Intake ports can flow to make that 418 hp.

Just for the record the most hp I have ever seen a Performer Intake allow a motor to make was 430, a Performer Intake for any brand motor I should note here also!

I used the f4b intake, removed divider with a 1" open spacer. The cam was the bottom of the page elgin hydro roller in comp prods, 224/232 .542/563 112lc. the heads were untouched 9175s. Never tried the performer 289 on the dyno. The dyno carb was a 600 holley dp (not 4776), My 750 made a couple more hp and tq down low but nosed over sooner. The f4b had to be ground on the front intake runner for clearance on the hei I used. no hood clearance probelms on 65 falcon

Sounds like a great engine & a great car. Surprising that the 600 carb was better up top than a 750.
Have fun.

dondon,

What was your total timing for best power?

I never check TDC in relation to the piston at TDC and harmonic balancer, but started at 35 degrees 397.1 hp and 379.2 @ 5500. Then changed to 32 degrees and that pull went 383.3 tq and 401.4 hp @ 5500. It was 3-4 hp and tq more all the way up from 3000 at 32
