If you drag race it 1/4 or 1/8th mile and want it to et. Bit quicker a higher rear gear ratio may help.
You want the trap rpm about 4-8% above the peak hp rpm.
To use all the motor in 1/4 mi
The torque converter will then function better also.

You would want to know 1/4 mi MPH,. Rear tire true effective diameter and 1/4mi trap rpm
Calculate desired trap rpm for new gears.

Two things stand out to me. If the cars is used more street than strip I would us a cam with 15 to 20 less degrees duration@.050 with the comp. ratio you have . If its used more strip than street I'd go with 4.11 or 4.30 gears maybe more depending on tire dia.and track length. Just my thoughts. Dan

If you run small rod journal( 283 ) and comp star rods it will clear standard base circle cam. Also if you run honda rod journal they will clear a bbc standard base circle cam.

thanks for reply. For the most part, the car is used for 1/8 mile and litle street driving. considering mounting 4.30 gears.
tires are 28x11.5 Et street M/T

Your in a tuff spot!
You need way more gear at the track and less Manifold on the street ,maybe even to the point in terms of better average power numbers on the street of needing smaller port volume heads also for the street!

You need to decide where you want more bragging rights, as to great strip performance, or street performeance.
You can cut a man's tongue from his mouth, but that does not mean he’s a liar, it just shows that you fear the truth he might speak about you!

What does this car weigh and what elevation are you racing at? It seems to me you must be having traction issues because your 60ft times are pretty slow. I would think even a pump gas 427 should run 6's in the 1/8th with AFR 227's on it. What is your ignition set up and the timing initial and total?

the car weighs up to the original, only minor adjustment to lighten the car. yes had problem with wheel spin. mounting CalTracs suspension next season.

timing 33 total at 4000rpm. 13 at idle.

The engine needs better adjustment carburetor also (this winter)

At 7.65 @ 91. (1/8) you're making less power than my muck more modest 406 SBC assuming about 3650# +/-.

It's way off the mark. Don't worry it is fixable.

The timing seems low.... Fuel octane used....? Is that why the timing is dialed back?

What ever comes off the 60ft launch comes right off the et too.... So.. ya 1.75 is pretty modest..

Lots of room for improvement.

7.65 @91 converts to 11.93 @ 112-115

This car is capable of much better.
