Roller lifter side load: pushrod angle vs offset pushrod seat

On another forum there was a discussion on using offset rocker arms with standard (centered) vs offset-pushrod-seat roller lifters.

Someone asked if the side load on the lifter is worse if the pushrod seat is centered w/ a more angled pushrod or when the pushrod seat is offset w/ a less angled pushrod.

My simplistic perspective is the lifter's going to get side-loaded regardless, but don't know the physics behind the question to understand which is the more problematic config. Thanks - Brad

Maybe Mike has a simplistic answer I have never found one.

More pushrod angle will cause more lifter sideload. However, this does not mean the lifter can't handle the sideload. I don't think you can necessarily say either way is better than the other.

A roller lifter with an offset pushrod button will exhibit less side load but, a certain amount of twisting force will be introduced.

An offset pushrod seat is better for the pushrod.
A centered pushrod set is better for the lifter.
