Re: Component Advice for a Vintage Racing Engine

Laying out plans now to come up with specs for a suitable cam for this engine.
The SU (Skinners Union UK) carbs viewtopic.php?f=1&t=59225&p=838978&hili ... ce#p838978 which are going to be used on this engine are noted for not liking a lot of overlap. Although, we haven't been able to find any published information covering how much cam overlap a racing engine with these carbs can tolerate.

Looking for any information on the subject anyone knows of or can point us to.

Thanks for the reference to Wade's SU book! The more up to date SU book by Des Hammill is in the mail and hopefully has the info, if not Wade's book will be next.

Thanks Steve, that's exactly what we are doing along with other mods to take advantage of the more developed velocity stack like horn on the air intake of the HIF carbs.
