Y Block Ford Cylinder Heads

Post by liqu »

I just bought these, look at what was done a long time ago, what do you think? I put them on the bench and got 235 @ 5.50 @ 28' non corrected with a 3.860 bore (fast test) I will do some work and see if they can be made to work.

I’m going to assume you’re referring to the intake side.......

Was that from an upper or lower port?
Somewhat handy with a die grinder.

Sorry, yes upper port, no rolled clay, this was a quick test the other day just to see what's up, looks like old porting, stock valves (?) don't know who did these but looks like a lot of work, the chambers are nice (to big), the ssr looks nice (to me) the intake port looks wrong, but they were cheap ($325.00) and they passed the mag test, so will see what I can get out of them.

I would spend most of my Analyzing/ rework time on the lower ports as any amount of flow you can get out of those ports can be had with ease out of the uppers!
You might save yourself a bunch of work and time and just get a set of the Mummert heads for the Y motor.

Mummert heads are not available, and I would just cut them up anyway.

Hi Geoff, I guess it's easy to know the things I post, what do think of these, I think a whole lot of work for little gain.
