4.310" 5/64 ring 4032 alloy 200hp spray questions

Post by Bob Hollinshead »

putting a 468 chev together with SRP pistons I bought years ago, these are the 4032 alloy and have the old school 5/64 ring package. I plan to spray it now and then and know of others that have done it with these pistons without problem. I have a set of basic Hastings moly rings. Would there be any benefits to horizontal gas porting the pistons? Better ring option? Shift will be somewhere between 6500-7K

total seal is were I would go for the best ring for your combination. They have some new rings that would work really well for you.

I see no point in pressurizing a thick ring. Total seal likely makes a drop in ring set that’s much thinner with a gas ported ring spacer for the top ring, might be worth talking with them directly on their opinion.
