B3 sells a "valve train correction" kit...give him all the details and he gets it done.

Seems respected among the Mopar crowd.

I ordered a couple valves today for a mockup...5.140 and a 5.165. Got to get the heads back from the shop flowing them then the work begins.

I'm waiting on pistons...

Heard from the shop that flowed my heads....don't have all the numbers yet but the intakes bumped up against 300 cfm which should get me to 600hp+...I hope.

Speed-Talk member "Piston Guy" sez my new slugs should be in my hands in three weeks. Thanks Randy!

Now to get Mr. Jones to grind up a good cam.

I have the engineer drawing for BOTH W2 and W5 heads and the bolt holes are in the same location and ironically, the bolt location is the SAME as production heads.

Jesus. You can take a production head and a W2 head and set them side by side and measure it. They are the same. All they did was mill the stands. In fact, the small block engine book gives the measurements to machine the stands. It's for production heads too.
There was no such thing as W5 heads in the 70's.
Again, you can believe whatever you want. I don't really care as it makes no difference to me.

No shit? No W5 heads in the 70's? I didn't know.

Again, the hold down bolts on a Chrylser small block head are in the same location for a production head, a W2 AND a W5. The W2 and W5 take the EXACT same valve gear.

So you are speaking an error. Unless you had some preproduction heads that no one else has, all the heads I just listed have the rocker shaft hold down bolts in the exact same location. You are WRONG.

Damn.
I did some investigation into some records from 40 years ago.

There were 2 versions of W2 Econo heads and the "Long Valve" version had the semi-circular receivers on the cast iron pedestals and shaft bolt down holes moved up and back from the locations on the short production valve heads.
That fulcrum location for stock rocker gear was changed on those heads to allow for the longer valves.

My heads are the econo castings with the cast-in rocker stands milled off and replaced with offset rocker shaft stands like the ones used by T&D.

The engine was raced with stock adjustable iron rockers but came with a set of T&Ds, too. But only one set of stands. I suspect the stands that are used with the OE rockers came from the T&D set. Why they did not use the good stuff has been lost to time.

The T&D single shaft system should use shafts that are a smaller diameter than the factory Mopar size.
In theory, the Mopar stands shouldn’t work with the T&D shafts.

I put together one motor that used the econo W2’s and T&D rockers, and the rocker kit came with sleeves to take up the size difference between the stock pedestals and the smaller T&D shafts.

Factory production heads, W2 heads and W 5 heads all have the rocker shaft hold down bolt holes in the same place. When you use a long valve it requires offsets stands and rocker shafts, this is how you get it away from the valve and get it closer to the intake side of the head
I have a set of Bob Mullen TA heads that were sold through direct connection prior to 1975, what Bob Mullen did was used offset W2 style shafts and stands with TA rockers, I have a set of these heads as well as a set of W2 heads and many sets of stock heads.

I just finished up a set of W-2 heads and they had the rocker stand boss's milled off out of the box.
These heads are about 5-6 years old now before customer decided to use them for a project.
I used +.100 long severe duty valves from Manley. They are intended for GM heads with .341" stems.
2.08 int. and 1.625 exhaust fit fine as I wanted to try to lighten the valve weight and Ti was not in customers budget.
But after they came back from the porter for some tune up work they went 315 on the intakes which I thought was remarkable given the port size to start with. They have similar runner shape under the valve to the EQ magnum heads which flow remarkably well for a stock replacement head.

Funny thing is that the GM style valves that are +.100 longer then stock work out better in the end then the 3/8" stem mopar stuff does allowing a longer spring package and not the common short springs most guys end up with.

"Long Valve" ECONO W2 heads were manufactured and sold with full rocker shaft pedestals having the bolt holes and semi-circles machined up & back toward the intake side ...
Part number P4529995 .

Standard valve length and regular machined shaft pedestal ECONO W2 heads were Part Number P4529994.
