1400 hp Big Chevy combinations

I need some suggestions on proven combinations to make 1400 hp with a Big Block Chevy.

I'll bite. Is the budget number a misprint? I ask that because $6000 might get you a rotating assembly that would barely support that h.p. in a reliable fashion.

That's gonna be tough. But as others have asked, how long do you need it to live? Or is this just to see a big number on the dyno before something lets go? And what parts are you starting with?

Throw some ebay chinese turbos and intercoolers on it, some decent forged pistons with chinese H-beam rods and hope the crank doesn't break at 25 lbs of boost.

Craig J, Search Reher-Morrison Racing Engines and you will get a idea of the cost of horsepower. I do not know what percentage of their prices is gross profit but subtracting a fair number, you get the idea . The world of high performance/high horsepower with some degree of dependability is NOT (inexpensive). This is a reality. The only way to get to your goal would be to buy something already built, that somebody would sell dirt cheap. Hope this helps? Mark H.

You missed a zero in your budget number.
A Bryant crank is about $4300 for starters.
1400hp is turbo or pro-charged.

hmmm.. I never considered turbo + nitro, I was really thinking twin 76 mm on methanol...

Not sure if I understand your statement... you mean blowers are not the cheapest way, or the blower alone would cost more than $6K ?

I bought this one for under $1500 and I am sure that on methanol it would get the job done... but I am putting this engine in my ranger and don't really want to cut the hood. Honestly I think the best way to get it done cheap is with turbos using E85 or methanol.
