V-8 Ranger

Post by TEROL »

Does anyone with real world experience know of a long tube header that will fit with minimal/no modification a 302/Ranger conversion ? The other possibility is a set of 289 HI-PO manifolds? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I moved the engine over about 1 in to clear the steering column. After I moved the body back 12in, the 91 Vette engine about 14in, Zed the frame etc.

There's a model year cutoff with Rangers... where some kits fit the early trucks, but not the later ones.
You need to know the year of your truck, the cutoff... and then you can do your research.
You're way ahead if you can get rid of the stock twin-I beam suspension and steering box. Putting a modern front end under it and installing a rack/pinion steering lightens things up a bunch, and also opens up some room.

The 4.0 SOHC V-6 in the newer Rangers is is kinda bulky but likley shorter than a 302? The V-6 is tight up against an A/C /heater box if your truck has it...The 95 and UP front suspension is not bad at all
