No support any longer for the Demon carbs, but you can get rebuild kits for them. Not many builders will touch them anymore. The size of the carb has less to do with the response than the calibration. You can have excellent throttle response with a large carb on a small engine. It's all in the tuning.

I do believe that a tuned Q-Jet sized for the application will do 98 percent of what is wanted!

How far off am I??

A 750 or the 800 Q-Jet.

I had a 750 on my 406 and my OEM 350SS engines Q-Jet on my old junk301 and they both ran great once I dialed in the top rear air door spring.

All this said, I did pick up a new 502 take-off Holley 850 vacuum secondary for my next high winding SBC if I don't die first.

An annular 1050 Dominator, without all the stupid magazine article whiz-bang replaceable venturi crap, works on a street driven hotted-up small block. 2" throttle blades vs. 1.8" won't mean squat.

I have used a 9375 on a 11:1 383 SBC, with a Comp 280 hydraulic flat tappet cam, ported factory iron heads. Worked awesome, no carb changes other than installing power valves and dropping the jet size. It was even still 3-circuit. It worked. Nothing fancy.

Well this would be smaller engine with no stroke for tq. and a really big runner HV 1002 brodix or the victor. What manifold did you use ? anyway you can make anything work, is it the best setup not really. Try not to get upset I dont pay that much attention to ragazine's lol.

Q-jets have always been good street carbs they had a lot more adjustment to them back when holley did not except in there dominators. At least now for a lot of years they have put all the nice feachers dominators had in there 4150 and 4160 carbs so they now have a lot of easy ways to tune them. Parts for the holleys or other brands of it are everywhere and new carbs if needed. Stuff for Q-jet not around that much and in my opinion holley eliminated the advantage in adjustible the Q-jet had, no reason to run one unless its an originality thing.

Little Mouse wrote: Sat Feb 08, 2020 11:45 am It's a 4150. If I use the 1050 it will not have good throttle response no matter what I do like smaller carbs would and those 2.00 throttle blades changing position quickly will be a problem and of course the real truth the engine will never pull enough air to really use the carb even at highest rpm. The king demon with the 1.8 throttle blades may be some help that's barely any different then the holley 850 1.75. The 3 circuit may cause me extra grieve. For just a high rpm small 337 what I think should really use is one of the new very adjustible 850s. I do happen to have two of the old 4980, 800cfm carbs laying around have had them for so many years I cant even remember how I came by them and I never used one of them.
No, the 950 Dominator was my suggestion.

Ok thanks for pointing that out guess I'm behind the times did not know they had the gen 3 in a 950 that will be the rout I'll go if I decide to do this. I wonder which manifold brodix HV 1002 or edelbrock victor might have the longer and maybe a bit smaller in cross section runners, anyone know ?

We ran my 8896 on a ~530hp 6500-6800rpm 406 and on my old 331, it will be on both the 336 and 353

So, what cfm would you have if you put the 750 skirted boosters in an 1150 2 circuit Dominator?
