Hi
Actually wood wood.Balsa and basswood.
Used to rent garage from patternmaker. Those are the wood pieces that go in sand for aluminum castings.
Anyhow. Making wood cylinder head.
Talked to Machinable Wax guy and he said just use wood.
Have two dremel motors and full set of Craftsman benchtop power tools so it seemed like thing to do.
Might use real valves or what not.

Thank you Motormonkey and cv67
Engine we are designing in crossflow 2 cam.Overhead cam. Air cooled.
Would like to talk to an 'engine geek'.Those are my one buddies words not mine.
When I asked him a question about our project he said the 'engine geeks' on the racing team took care of the engines.
A retired engine geek would be best.
And I do realize I'm supposed to figure this out on my own somewhat.
Just would like to know some of the terminology for racing head designing.
Working on area of passage above the back of the valve head. The 'passage port'?
Where the flow enters or exits the combustion chamber past the valve and seat.
Thanks.
