do aftermarket blocks come right at 9.8 deck height ?
Would this combo work ?
4.5" bore
3.76 stroke (factory 427)
6.7" rod length
= 478 cubic inches and with a 1.27" compression height piston the total would add up to 9.85 "
I'm just asking because i have the crank and pistons. the pistons are mahle with a 10cc dome. Depending on the deck clearance this would give around 9 - 9.5 CR.
If it was put into a tall deck block with a 7" rod it would add up to 10.15"

The last time I had new blocks in my hands was about 15 years ago and all four of the dart big blocks had to have the decks cut. Sorry but I do not remember how much. I would give dart a call.

Re: weird BBC combo
thanks guys. Those 6.635" rods would put me at 9.785 according to my math. That would work good with a short deck block. I won't be building this combo but i'm trying to sell some parts and people have asked what they can build with them.
