Healey Rod Specification AEC790S

Post by rcull »

I believe I have a '62 Healey BJ7, block casting number AEC881.

I need the big end specification for the connecting rods, casting number AEC790S

Thanks,

You really need to join AERA.

Re-use the original rod bolts and nuts if at all possible. Replacements from the usual suspects are real crap, completely un-useable.

The original bolts are crap too, with a small diagonal pin in their head that usually breaks off.
The bolt's round head has a flat that can be used to hold it when tightening, with a shim or small screwdriver wedged between it & the rod. At least it wasn't Whitworth.
Good luck.

The replacements my customer brought to me for his 3000 were a full .010" small on shank diameter and that pin was the wrong angle and length, the bolt heads came no where near seating. I think I have pics, I'll look tomorrow.

QC was lacking on this batch of offshore hardware.
