REV Severe Duty

Post by cgarb »

I bought a set of REV severe duty valves for my new SBC heads I am building for a 355. I bought 1.625/2.055 valves and am turning them down to 1.600/2.02 in my lathe so I can grind them to 50deg and still have decent margin left on them. I have done this exact same process before with other brand valves. These seemed to cut rather easily compared to others I've cut before. The valves look nice. Has anyone noticed this also? REV seems like a decent brand of performance valve, I just hope there will be no issue. This is a mild solid roller application with 230lbs seat and 560lbs open.

They offer a few different 2.055" valves in that series, so which ones did you get?

How long has REV been an established company ? were the recently sold and purchased by a different company ? is the company who supplied the (harder to machine) valves a well know and respected company who has been in business a "long" time ? An engine valve can not be as hard as glass but too soft can't be good either. Mark H. :-k

RVVCL1638-8 are the intakes and RVVCL1601-8 for the exhausts. The valves I turned down before were Enginepro brand. Not sure who manufactured those valves other than it said Made in Argentina on the boxes. One thing I was worried about was the REV boxes are different. I'm hoping they just switched packaging but I noticed the exhausts are Lazer etched below the groove on the stem and the intake are etched above. I just hope they are not people trying to counterfeit REV valves.
