Thought some may be interested in looking at these. They are not real common....not sure what im going to do with them yet. From Childress

Are these from the Grand Am / IMSA engines?

I think but I'm not certain, I have little to no information on the heads other than my own measurements.

There were so many rule changes over the years with bite sizes, restrictors sizes, compression, rpm limits, etc. I would be curious to what you have.

As would I. . I know Tony Knight has(had) a pair from a previous thread. The sellers on ebay that sell them when they come up don't know shit about them...I've been wanting a set to look at, so when a set popped up I scooped them up. They are very cool to look at and study. My measurements seem to mostly agree with the Knightengines from the thread a year or so ago.

I just thought some may be interested in looking at pics of them or talking about them. They will eventually end up on my LS3 dyno project most likely....but it will take a decent amount of work and changes to run them.. Either way, they were worth what I gave for them.

For a specific combination, no doubt they're about as good as it gets. I guess Tony would be your best resource on here for them. That was a good thread.

Tony and I have talked. His project with them wasn't complete last time we did. I just thought some may be interested in looking at pics, I don't believe the previous thread had any.

Chad have you had them on a bench yet?

No, I haven't. Mostly just have done some measuring, admiring, and mocking things up with them. I think they would run really good.

I've mocked them up with a LS3 and a LS7 manifold, neither is quite right but the LS3 would take less work to get on there. Would need a custom piston for what I'd want to do with them. but I was planning on a new set of pistons when I upgrade my shortblock anyway. Biggest obstacle is rockers.. don't know if I like them enough to spend a couple thousand dollars on rockers, and I'm not having any luck finding a take-off set.

These heads are cast for ECR by GM. ECR designed the ports and machines them. They began use when Grad Am had tight engine rules and at the time the rule was 5.0L around 7000 rpm verified on Grand Am dyno at any point in year. The target was around 530-550HP. Due to this these heads ports were designed by ECR for the area of .650 lift.

Later the heads were kept when the engine became a 5.5L by rules when Grand Am became IMSA. The power target was 600HP max and the displacement increase did this without having to change the heads / ports.

Again in 2017 these heads were kept for use on the new ECR designed IMSA engine that was 6.2L. The power target was still 600HP from IMSA and verified. Again the ports had no change. Seat material and vale specs have changed throughout the years.

The 6.2L engine was changed to a 5.5L engine in 2018 and continues use. The power target was still 600HP from IMSA and verified.

Restrictors are used to limit its performance.

This is not the same engine that GM produced in house for it Corvette program as people suggest. There are virtually no parts that were common.

Isn’t the Corvette engine production based, as in production (but modified) heads?

The ECR engines in the prototypes still do very well. I would love to see the power curve from one of them.

Hoffman posted this link at another forum when someone was asking about ECR LS heads.

Don't know if it applies here.
