Any Racesaver 305 sprint builders?
Any 305 racesaver builders on here? How did the inspection and sealing process work? What do they check ? What is sealed when they leave? I have not built one of these and would like to in the near future...

Total and complete pain in the ass. A multi step process that drags on over multiple days. None of the engine builders that I dyno engines for do them anymore...
Re: Any Racesaver 305 sprint builders?
Do you have a copy of the rules?
Here's a link:
http://rules.racesaver.com/racesaver/rules.cfm
They check every spec called out in the rules, including weighing the crank and valves.
I bolt the engine together but nothing is torqued. It just makes it easier to manage for transportation.
I bring valve spring shims to reset spring force because their checking tool ... (Rant deleted) to make sure my springs are set to the maximum force their procedure allows. Hint: on a new racesaver spring, an 0.015" shim changes force 3.95#.
I have some tools that I bring with me that help with certain aspects of assembly, and I paint them to identify them as being mine. The inspector has plenty of tools and lets you use anything you need, but having certain ones of my own saves time. I also bring wipes, cleaning sprays, sealers, lubricants, hand cleaner...etc. And pack a lunch.
They seal the injector manifold to the heads, heads to the block, timing cover. They record the cylinder head numbers.
So far it's taken one long day to get through the process each time.

I just realized that you asked "What is sealed when they leave?"
They never come to my shop, I have to go to them.

So if you could get them to come to your own shop, the manifold, heads, front cover would be on and sealed?
Re: Any Racesaver 305 sprint builders?
?????
I always have to take the engine to the inspectors shop.
After every part of the engine passes inspection, I do the final torque on all of the fasteners. Then the seals are attached across the specified pre-drilled fasteners.

GM Runs a sealed Crate Engine program for 602, 604 and 525 Engines. The seals are very secure and they have trained inspectors that check your engine after the race (if you won of placed) to see it the engine has been unsealed and altered. This checking takes less than 10 minutes.

If the crank hasn't already been weighed before get that done after you balance it.
Then show up with one head and the intake off. Takes a couple hours.
