Msd 8991 / French grimes timing light
Msd 8991 self powered timing light. I need to retro fit a new aaa battery holder for it or buy a rechargeable pack for it. Does any body know how many volts the original pack for the 6 aaa batteries is wired for? Or could someone check theirs? My original holder is long gone

I would call Grimes directly and ask. If they are working these days that would be the best bet.houser45 wrote: ↑Sun May 10, 2020 8:18 pm Msd 8991 self powered timing light. They may also offer an updated battery pack.

The compact Kowa Seki timing light uses two AA for 3V and has a brighter flash than regular 12V powered lights. Without having the battery holder for yours so you can figure out if the batteries were wired in parallel for longer battery life or series for higher voltage, be careful not to over-voltage and kill it. It could be two trios of 3 each AAA = 3 Volts, or 3 pairs of 2 each = 4.5 Volts, or all 6 in series for 9 Volts. I would rig it with jumper wires and start with two AA to see if that makes it function with normal brightness.houser45 wrote: ↑Sun May 10, 2020 8:18 pm Msd 8991 self powered timing light.
