How to sleeve a 350 the right way?

I know its not number matching but Summit sells a 350-4 bolt main block 40 over for $739.00 Remanufactured. But how bad would the shipping be?

Only to you get an idea, lets say the shipment would cost $400 by ship. So, 1139 USD, then add 77% taxes we pay here,(yes the stupid high taxes are on total invoice value including shipping) plus 6% credit card tax; that equals to 2137 USD.

Now the cool part: actually our money worth 1:5.57 USD, meaning we would pay 2137x5,57= 11.903 Reais. Thats what a regular worker earn in six months. Lowest level workers get that in a year.

Not easy to build these engines over here Buddy. We're real happy when the market changes and our coin worth about three times less than the USD, then things get a lot cheaper.But thats a rare occasion.

How strict is your customs enforcement on forms designating gifts? If we tied a yellow ribbon on it, would they believe a short block was a gift?

The situation in Canada is similar, but far less severe. For instance, I bought a converter on ebay recently for $265, by the time I got it, it was well over $600. It was still a very good deal (its an $1100 US converter new) but it gives you an idea. When I look at a US price for a part, any part, I can basically double it. This is counterbalanced somewhat in that, unlike Brazil, we have had a long and vibrant performance scene in Canada, so at least we have a decent supply of used aftermarket parts available locally, and things like 350 blocks are comparable to the US, for instance, I just bought a very nice std bore 010 block and caps for $100. But new aftermarket parts are much more expensive here than in the US.

About 300 Reais on a nice track. Nobody makes VHT overhere, so the glue is also overly taxed.

Our customs are nuts. Even if you send a true gift like a Tshirt or decals, they will tax that. Thats againt our own laws!!!

Blocks are the hardest part to get here in Brazil, unfortunatelly. I have buddies that get cars or trucks totaled to remove the powertrain. And you're lucky when you can get a chance like that.

A while back a guy sent me the wrong part, I returned it, and he replaced it with the right one, I was taxed on both transactions!

Just an update:

We got this Dart Sleeve from Summit, hopefully it will do just well. Seems to be made of a better cast iron alloy.

I'll ask for the machine shop mill off the step and face the bottom flat. That way it will stop at the bore step like the Gents suggested.

We also got the DSS forged pistons. We will be using a set of cammel hump ported heads too;

Might be a fun engine.
