Hello working on some w2 mopar sb heads. Have you ever seen inserts around valve guides in to water jackets.[attachment=0]20200611_104601.jpg[/attachments

The early W2 casting a had those. I’m not sure what year that stopped.

That looks like a bit of a cluster f&@k situation.

I can’t imagine having those inserts removed is going to improve the odds of them not leaking in the future.
Somewhat handy with a die grinder.

I never has one leak. And I’m not very lucky.

After removing and reinstalling?

Why would they need to be removed anyway?
Somewhat handy with a die grinder.

I had several come loose. I suspect the previous owner or his builder tried to install liners from the valve side or something. I had 2 on one head and 1 on the other that would come out just flipping the head over on the bench. When the first one fell out I panicked. I called my local DC dealer and said that happens. Stick them back in and run it.
So I did and the never leaked.

I should go look at the heads under my bench. They may have that style guide in them.
