I have a 10.3-1 460 with pocket ported buy stock valve 049 heads and that cam, except mine is a roller. It does not impress me. Although it has a Team G single plane, [should have a RPM], I blame the cam. It does sound like a bad mo-fo.

The late MKIV 454s and the Gen 5s had a small dish. The Gen 6s have a 2 valve flat top.

5 and 6 are one piece rear seal. 6s have provisions for roller cam. Neither 5 or 6 have a fuel pump boss, unless it was a crate engine or a replacement engine.

There are differences in the coolant passages. You should figure out what you have. If you post the block casting #...…

Anyways i had a plan to build it into something fun. Here is what i'm thinking :

Edelbrock #60439 performer RPM heads with the 100cc chamber. These should give me 9.4 CR
Comp 11-602-4 thumper cam (hyd flat tappet) 243 / 257 .522 / .507 107 LSA
single plane intake
850 holley
2" hooker headers
78 malibu with 4.10 gears, 3200 pounds, 4000 stall

Will this make 500 hp ? Maybe mid 11 's ?
Yes it will. A tad over.

Mechanical flat tappet camshaft that does work with stock bbc rockers and is 500+ hp capable on a 454 w 10:1 cr

Crane F326-2 (Fireball 326) Crane # 134261

It works w single p lane or big dual plane or the bbc street tunnel ram too... Great street nitrous modest valve lift.
Use good dual springs

326-336 252-262 110 lsa 105/115 554"/.554" .532"/.530" net w lash .022/.024.. Lash varience allowed to tune for effect

Another ,lower cost allows buying long slot rockers

Howards cam 121052-10
282-282 248-248 .578-.578" ..022-.022 lash
..556"/.556" net w lash

You can spring for new long slot rockers
or carefully grind and debur the slots in your stock rockers
for rocker slot/stud clearance.

if it goes down the track it would be my wife or son driving it. I don't want to have to touch anything on it. I allready have one race car to worry about.

If I can learn how to set valve lash on a 454 some 45 years ago so can your son.. Use the cold set method EOIC.
Its pretty goof proof. set about .002"-.004" tighter than hot lash. If you spring for the low cost $$$Summt- SpeedPro Elgin hi perf long slot rockers really open the doors on off the shelf cams for this. Hyd or solid.
The 294s-10 magnum cam is not bad at all for this.
Set lash at .020"-.022" COLD and shut the hood for months.

Here is a good one that will work with the stock rockers.
Yess another street strip solid.
Isky Z33 #396233 the catalog says .560" lift. this is with a 1.75:1 rocker arm..
Yours are 1.7 the gross lift is .544".
290-290 250/250° .320/.320" (lobe lift)
108 LSA

.030" hot lash (You can play with that on this one)

Long slot type are not expensive

Any dome piston ,when used with a edelbrock head you must verify piston dome to chamber clearance
especially the 100cc eddy head.
That is why I posted the link. that piston is designed for the Edelbrock head and has the comp. height were he deeds it.

FWIW, I just got a cam from Mike (forum owner) and it is super sweet. You may want to consider having him make you a cam custom for your combo. I doubt you'd find a better cam.

You are so right.. For the 110cc head, these specific pistons fit.

F-bird - how about Lunati 30110513 ? I think you convinced me to get a solid.

243 / 251 .586 / .600 110 LSA 104 ICL

its just about impossible to find the type of cams i like to run for low buck street blaster style engines. I like a tight LSA, big duration (240 - 250 area) and low lift to be easy on parts. I've used the ISKY 396245 before with good results. But i'm trying to find something thats sitting on the shelf without having to special order or custom grind. I had a customer call me this morning wanting a Lunati cam so i figured since i'm placing an order i might as well get one from them for myself as well.

also others have suggested a Jones cam or a Cos-cam. I feel like i would really like to try those but maybe someday when i'm building a serious engine that i can test them on the track and see how they compare against whatever else i might allready have. I do appreciate the suggestions though.
