A Victor vs a 300-36

Post by pdq67 »

My SBC 4.155" x 3.00" = 325" engine IF I ever build it?? Before I die??

I have a new, still in the box, 300-36 intake, but would a Victor single plane be better?

I'm talking like 4,000 to 8,000 and above rpm's here.. Back then, Holley said the 300-36 was good to 7200 rpm so I bought it when Summit dropped them back in the early 2,000's...

I want another, "whenna are you gonna shift the SOB", engine here is all...

I’ve never used a Victor before, but I have done back to back testing of a 300-36 vs a 7530 Weiand on a 250@.050 solid lifter 388 sbc. No comparison above 4500 rpms...the 300-36 was no doubt better at lower rpms, but above that, the 7530 just ran off and left it.

If you are only concerned with power above 4K rpms, I think the single plane is the only way to go.

I still say that if you’d just finish the 496 you’d forget all about that small block. Just saying

Depends on what you are going to do with the car. My old 358 has the 300-36 on it now for testing. I know the engine ran 11.40's with the 300-25 but it was a little soggy and getting the 60 ft. times down well you just got to try stuff to see what works best. I know that my old ported SV worked very well, so good that with my other 406 I had a hard time hooking the car up with a 9" tire.
