I have a set of 210cc 71cc profilers ported by Speier. have the original paperwork. Valves are still installed. 2.08/1.6 STD spacing Have spare parts never used. Studs/guides. I had shaft rockers on them. Painted orange pulled off running 406” and went to smaller cc heads.

IDK how much a set of the Trickflow alum camelbacks cost or really anything other than they are a newish head by them but I'd assume they are smaller runners and that'd be good for a daily. Think I read someplace Speedway has their own version that might be cheaper? Not sure how much Dart SHP heads are atm but they had a 180cc version.

The edelbrock e street are a decent cheap head, with a bit of a clean up of the ports, bowls & short turns they'll do 450hp easy.
Good metal, not chinesium.

There are some new import heads floating around that have powder metal valve seat with a copper wafer.
Much better seat, little different intake port.

Paul,
Seems like every set of "no-name" aluminum heads I get in the shop have the guides totally killed. I suppose it could be valve train geometry and set up causing it but its funny that I rarely see a set of Brodix, AFR's etc like that.

Re: cheap aluminum heads.
What do the valve stems look like on dissasembly?
Are the valve seals doing way too good of a job
in these heads.. (lack of oil in guides)
Or is the stem to guide clearance wrong to start with
(too tight, too loose)
Which specific castings are you refering to?
(you can ID them by the crossover boss on the intake flange side and the water port holes. Decks facing u)

Re: cheap aluminum heads.
Good questions. I dont remember having to replace many valves so the stems must be ok. I have attributed it to the guide material but have not done any testing to verify it. The other cause could very well be a lousy valve job from the factory with a ton of runout which will definitely kill guides as much as any other cause.F-BIRD'88 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 03, 2020 1:04 pmWhat do the valve stems look like on dissasembly?

I think just about everyone uses the same positive seals now days so not sure if you can attribute it to that.
I will pay more attention to the castings and see if I can find a trend.
