Cam advice

Could I get some feedback on this cam choice please?

347 SBF
Bracket race 110 race gas 650hp carb Vic Jr intake
11.5-1 compression
AFR 185 heads
4000 stall speed C4 trans
4:30 rear/28" rear tire 3100lb mustang

Solid Roller

The thing that stands out to me with that overall combo is....... it has way less stall than I’d use.

That cam will peak HP around 7,000rpm, and would like more stall(4,500-4,800)

So an 8" converter would be in order. I know this is not a 650hp combo. If this made 500, I would be perfectly happy. I was not trying to win engine masters. What about this camshaft? How would the two act differently? I have typically ran narrow LSA in the few Fords I have dealt with. Would the 110 with this cam do alright?

This cam would move peak power up to about 7,400rpm, and need a 5,000 stall

I think he was refering to a 650 cfm HP style Holley carb not that it will make 650 hp . Dan

4.86 gear , more stall, 750hp carb =10 second ETs . my similar 331 does but with a 5.29 gear and 8,000 in the lights.

The second camshaft, the Manufacturer said RPM Range: 3000-7500, the first cam was RPM Range: 4200-7200 which you were pretty much spot on with your analysis. That was why I asked what the second cam would do. Myself thinking, this is more duration and a wider LSA, how will this make the power range lower. You said just what I thought...peak power went up. So that cam in the car probably would make a slower et. In your opinion, would you go smaller yet or is the 1st cam a decent choice if I would up the stall speed? This engine will not get shifted higher the 7000 most likely, probably 6500/6800 range.

That would be plenty...lol. That would run real good in the Mustang.
