Are New Generation LS7, LSA SRT8 etc OEM Forged Crankshafts Nitrided?
Question. Some OEM engines came factory with forged steel crankshafts such all of Mopar SRT8 engines (6.1, 6.4, and 6.2) and GM LSA, LS7 and a few others i believe. Are they nitrided as well from the foundry? They seem hold up very well even over 1000 horsepower. Thanks in advance!

I don't know about the particular cranks, but nitriding is not done at the foundry.
It is done when the crank has been ground about 0.010" over size.
Some cranks can be case hardened after finish grind, however this is not as precise.

You seem to be under the impression that the nitrid process increases Crank strength a heck of a lot when it does not, it's mainly used to help the journals ware better in terms of dirt scoring.
