Sleeve Flange To Counterbore Clearance?
When boring a block to fit a flanged sleeve, how much clearance is desired /acceptable for the sleeve flange to counterbore? The particular block has a 3.583 nominal diameter bore. Oil cooled diesel. Thanks.

The manufacturer of the sleeve your using should be consulted on this question.

Some. I give them .004" total (.002" per side).

I agree,

Unless there is a specified # I've always used .005 or .0025 per side.
