sbc Edelbrock rpm take a 1255?

Post by cv67 »

Gonna try some proheader 200cc heads I took the grinder to on a buddys 350
He has a edelbrock rpm which now uses a 1205
These heads take a 1255 which is a hair taller...room on those intakes to make this work?
Been a few yrs since I have had one of those in my hands...so match to 1255 or perhaps a 1206 and leave a little room?
Thanks.
Going to be dynoed, currently has some CP 190s on it should be interesting.
Lets see if the "too big" head theory is true or not.

Have not done it but have seen it used with a 1206.

As I remember using that gasket on my Vortec heads a conventional intake did not align up very well with those.

If the added port height from the grinding of the port match work can not be maintained all the way back to the plenum then don't even bother wasting your time with the port match since the end result will be a narrower power band!

Felpro lists the 1255 as:
1.08" x.110"
Edelbrock list the port as:
1.28” x 2.09”

I tried doing 1206 on an eddy rpm air-gap . The height was real close but you can not get the width .at the top . You can just get 1205 width and have a reasonable flange width for sealing with almost the 1206 height and have just enough to seal . It's really touchy using a 1206 the blue print-o- seal shows at the top corners of the ports. That what I remember it's been a few years .Dan

Guessed that may be an issue, plan on using Mr gasket. Havent had good luck with those in yrs past anyways.
