Would kinda defeat the purpose of a dominator if the intake is small. A big port job on that dual plane, then try a dominator, now that would be interesting

I would say atleast a 420 cid motor that was built to make 650 hp at 7500 rpm, with a running power band above 5500, or a smaller cid motor making that same HP or better spinning to 8500 to 8800.

I have used Dominators on very mild sub-400" street driven hydraulic cammed small blocks. No issues. I think nobody tries it because 'everybody knows' it won't work...

The original L4575 worked well on a mild street engine with a 2 plane intake ... even had choke blades.
I am sure there is one today which works equally as well ... Quick Fuel used to offer "Street Dominators" before Holley bought them; maybe they still do.

For a small block there is no dual plane with a dominator flange . But you could use the single plane with dominator flange and add a plenum divider.
The big block has the eddy C-454 dual plane.
Of course you could use a carb adapter (with divider) on a 4150 flange manifold.

If you are not a "Blister Pack" type enthusiast and have someone who can modify manifold flanges or the ability to modify your own parts; some welding and a hand grinder makes it happen.
I personally have done several like that for customers throughout the past 40 years. The Holley 300-36 is the easiest for me.

The 1050 2 circuit Dominator I just made worked pretty well, now if I can get the car to hook with it I would see the performance benefit. I have the C-454 clone (Torker 4500) and a SBC Torker 4500 that use the Dominator carbs. I also have a NEW ubber rare C-400 oval port Just sitting. Last new on went for 2K on ebay  . I would have to trouble running the new carb on a SBC in my street car. Would look cool.

I was at a car show years ago and saw in the box a new, I think it was a, Holley bbc oval port Strip Dom with a dom flange on it.
I looked down into it and it looked as big as a toilet bowel.

Is it still being sold?

Actually I think Holley did make a BBC dual plane intake with a 4500 pattern, can't remember the number though.

The main thing 99% of the duel plane's love for better power is atleast a 1" open spacer.
