Ramshorns..
Just how bad are the stock 2.5" outlet dia. ramshorns vs shorties and long tube headers?

Re: Ramshorns..
About 12% power and torque. best factory ex manifolds eg: sbc vette 2.5" ram horns VS long tube headers.
Street strip stuff.

The ,*best*
camshaft valve events will be different if optimized for each , on any specific engine.

Re: Ramshorns..
Especially the "lack of" overlap for the CI exhaust. Individual primaries cleans up exhaust re-breathing from the other cylinders in a common casting.
More cam > header more valuable.

Re: Ramshorns..
I bought two new black sand cast 2.5" ramshorns with the generator mount on both.
So I could use them any way I wanted to.
I want to say they were like $50/each?
Now, the only deal is what will they fit, engine bay wise??
I think the drivers side dumps on top of my steering sector so not good at all for my '67 Camaro.

Re: Ramshorns..
There is still a lot of restriction in the rams horn exhaust manifolds. Also, as you have pointed out, the center exit often interferes with crossmember and/or steering gear.

Re: Ramshorns..
I think Brzezinski does extensive milling and porting of these, and for stock class racing he prefers the 92-96 lt1 manifolds. He mentions it several times in his various videos, and has a standing offer to buy good cores.
Plus, they would fit many more applications as they are rear exit, so unless you are going for a nostalgic look... you have better options, a set of lt1 manifolds can be had off ebay pretty cheap, even less if you went junkyard crawling.

pdq will those fit the first gen? Thought those used the log type with the collector further back.

I still have my 350SS's exhaust manifolds up on a shelf in my garage.
They are CI logs with if I remember right, the drivers side going down between the two back ports and the pass side angled back below the back port?
2.25" dia. dumps, so aren't all that eff., imho.
