Timing curves 6530 and 7530

Post by 408 Nova »

I have a 12.5:1 SBC with an MSD 6530. Going to a 7530.

Distributor is locked at 40 degrees BTDC. I pull 25 degrees out to crank it with the 6530. So it's cranking on 15 degrees BTDC.

From 1000 to 2200 rpm, I put the 40 degrees back in, so that it idles on 40 degrees BTDC.

In a linear fashion, from 2200 to 3000, it's ramped down to 36 BTDC, and is at 36 until 6000 rpm, then from 6000 to 8000 I add 2 degrees linearly.

Does this look right to y'all, or am I way off? Is there more ET to be had anywhere with this curve?
