mallory 250 fuel pump

Post by chevyart »

have a mallory fuel pump sitting for a number of years(always inside) and want to use it soon. can i squirt some silicone in the ports and hook it to 12 volts and let it spin for a while to get silicone on the seals or is there a better way to lubricate the insides of this pump. thanks art in NY

There are 100k of pumps sitting around in boxes for years and sold as new and work perfectly so what would be the difference.

Most likely have a protective coating on the inside to prevent corrosion and degradation.
Coating and spinning with some ATF is not a bad idea.
