Ford SHO 3.4L

Post by Roundybout »

I picked up a low mileage SHO with the 3.4L

I’m aware of the camshaft gear separation issue and would like to correct that. There are two methods of repair, welding and pinning the gear. I wouldn’t be comfortable doing either with the cams in the car from the looks of it. Am I being to cautious?

With welding are there any issues with cam hardness or durability after? It’s mighty close to a cam bearing.

The pinning I see no drawbacks other than strength maybe?

Using adjustable crank gear on FOMCO Mod 4.6 use pins. Common and no problems.
Love those SHO’s!
