With valve guides in good condition and with the expansion rate of the general valve material used I have never had a issue with .035" , although others have run less.
One things forsure,if we are talking about a Aluminum head with its seat incerts and running a maxed out valve job I would not go less then .060" just for the sake of the overheating and distortion of the Intake seat on the Exh valve side and the loss of seal that comes along with that sonner or later!
