SBC oil pan gasket help
I bought an 86 suburban with a 350 engine that turned out to be a reman or maybe even a GM new engine. I'm building it up for mild performance and found that its an oddball block. It s got a 1 piece rear main seal, milled and drilled for a fuel pump, milled and drilled for a roller cam, 4 bolt mains and it has provisions for a dipstick on both sides. the problem is i can't find the matching oil pan gasket. The oil pan also has dipstick kickouts on both sides. I can't find a name or number on the oil pan gasket that was in there. Anyone ever run into this before ?
Brian
the block is casting number 14101148
and stamped VB032971

The dual dipstick makes me think Targetmaster.
I know Fel Pro has a performance 1 piece pan gasket for the pre86 blocks, perhaps they have for your block too. What about the standard gasket for a roller block and plugging the drivers dipstick hole?

yes it may well be a targetmaster. The pan must use a gasket with 2 dipstick kickouts. If i change pans then i should be able to use a more common gasket. I really want to use the pan i have though because i spent alot of time cleaning it and its ready to use and i need to buy a gasket anyways.

Re: SBC oil pan gasket help
I’ve never seen the late 350 block with double stick hole but I have seen a couple of the early blocks, obviously easier to deal with by purchasing both cork pan sets.
Have you checked with your GM dealer?

That gasket is for 85 and older 2pc rear main seal pans. I have a block with the same double dipstick side rails but is a 2 pc seal that uses that gasket but no roller provisions . It a Mexico block . Dan

Re: SBC oil pan gasket help
finally solved the mystery. I found a GM part number on my old gasket 14101149 which is discontinued and doesn't cross reference to anything. I'll call GM on monday and see if they happen to have any NOS laying around but other than that i have to change oil pans and use one with only the RH dipstick.

Just a guess, but if you find gasket 14101149 maybe it'll be dirt cheap or very pricey.prairiehotrodder wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 5:26 pm finally solved the mystery. How about a dirty junkyard Vortec pan and that FP OS34500R ...
mahle/clevite/victor OS32496B is equivalent to FP OS34500R but often much less $.
Both ATP 103033 & Dorman 264-100 offer new OE-replacement pans about $50.
