Long story short customer doesn't want to dyno and i don't want to send him out the door without a starting point.
Ford 410w stroker 10.5 compression pump gas, hyd roller 234/245 .588/.588 109 lobe sep 105 int cl, AFR 205 cc heads MSD dist 18 deg mechanical advance heavy springs. Anyone have an idea on total advance timing to use, i haven't dynoed a ford windsor in 10 years and have no clue what timing these heads like.
Guesstimate on timing

Re: Guesstimate on timing
That AFR 205cc head has a fast burn chamber. On pump gas it would be wise to start with 26 or so and be careful to listen for knock (if the exhaust is not so loud you can't hear it). If you can dyno or road test to experiment with the advance curve you may find it likes about 24 deg. @ 2000 with one degree per 1000 advance as RPM increases, so 26 @ 4000, 28 @ 6000, etc. A mechanical curve like this should use a vacuum advance curve with 0 @ 6", 1 @ 7", 10 @ 10", 20 @ 15" (crank deg.).
