Brodix Iron BBC Blocks?

Post by Arrowsmith »

I have a question: Does anyone have recent experience they can share with regard to the Brodix iron BBC block castings? I'm interested in using one for a pump gas 540 I'm building.

Thank You.

Looks like a easy out of the box 650 to 700 hp on pump gas to me!

that would be any BBC, heck even a 2 bolt stock block also.

for the OP: The Brodix block is in line with Dart Big M, World Products Merlin III and MRI BBC blocks. Way better than the most prepped stock block BBC.

Here is this from Brodix last May;
"The Blocks are made for us to our spec’s and made in the U.S.A. We have our own aluminum foundry but not cast iron foundry . This is why I took us so long to make one . Had to find foundry in the U. S. that would make a block to all of our specs .."

If anyone has any first-hand experience with one of these Brodix blocks, could you please post what you thought about it ?

I did... its in line with the other blocks i have used and mentioned. The only thing i didn't like was how long it took to get. The customer wanted specifically a brodix block and brodix heads with brodix intake and valve covers.. so thats what we waited the 6 weeks for. it was a 632, and i remember having to clearance more so than the other blocks i mentioned.

whats his specific need to know about the block?

I’m hoping to learn from your experience. My plan is to use one in a simple pump gas 540 build. That’s all.
Thank you.

I used one last year (#BR B4684298S) for my pump gas 582.
Local shop finish bored, decked, honed for .903 lifters, etc.
Shop said it was most likely a Blueprint Blocks casting, and was a stout piece.

Was originally gonna do a 540, but the stuff all costs about the same, so went with 582.

Along with the block, other parts used were:
Callies Compstar 4.375 crank w/center counterweights
Molnar Pwr-Adr 6.480 rods
CP pistons (BBC5321-100) come with rings & .180 wall pins
No heavy metal needed to balance

Got it in a 5 speed 69 Camaro, & it's a blast !

I would say with 99 percent certainty it is the same casting.
