Re: CLEVELAND VS CLEVOR
However, the Cleveland blocks have wider oil pan rails and much larger volume crankcase.Kazoom wrote: ↑Sun Dec 13, 2020 8:34 pm not well known by some, besides the better oiling system on "W" blocks, 9.2"/9.5" deck Windsor blocks actually have a better/perfect intake lifter bank angle worth just a few extra HP for controlling Big 4V 2.250/2.300 intake valves on canted valve Boss heads that better helped with high rpm control ... Better! than even the Cleveland block it self.
SO, Ford "clevor" race blocks or aftermarket Cleveland blocks ...?

Neither one of these engines are true cleveland these are aftermarket engines. No real cleveland engine block and heads will make that kind of power are even stand up to the punishment of that kind of power.I just wonder why they just don’t call them small block fords.

I looked at the picture in first post doesn't look like a windsor style block . I think most identify canted valve sbf as either cleveland or clevor depending on block type . What do you guys call a sbc race engine with 10 15 or 18* heads ?

What is the advantage to a 465 "Cleveland"; when you could just build a 460?

Re: SBF CLEVELAND goes 1050hp!!
At 465 cubic inches it certainly is not a small block capacity. I can't see this many cubes fitting in an actual Cleveland block. I think I would call this a full aftermarket race engine with canted valves. I doubt there is anything from a Cleveland on it.
Good effort all the same.

Re: SBF CLEVOR/CLEVELAND
They were casted at both foundries. Also the Michigan foundry.Kazoom wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 12:34 am will get in on this "name" thing too... what bugs me/ pet peve is so many guys throwing around the "cleveland" term
i guess not well known by some but FACT is Ford/racers were using Canted Valve Heads on 8.2" & 9.2" sbf "Windsor" types blocks long before the "Cleveland" came around
This has unfairly Stolen some some of the lime light away from ("Fords little Jewel") sbf windsor block which has been around far longer than the olds inspired cleveland block
some seem to forget the original canted valve 4V Boss heads were NOT cleveland heads
even the "Clevor" thing is not that accuate but it is the term everyone using today
i dont know what to call these big 451/461 ci Windsor base block engines today ... but I SAY! lets call them ...

Re: SBF CLEVELAND goes 1050hp!!
For some reason, I just don't get the WOW factor from this? What 465 in making 1053Hp? Now don't get me wrong, that is making some jam, but in todays world where that size engine can usually go 1150+ and some would tickle over 1200Hp (Like the URE 450 SC1 that went 1180+ what 5/6+ yrs ago).
So this deal, made 2.26Hp/inch. YEARS ago I help with a OEM Cleveland blocked, Moldex nodular crank 356 inch Cleveland, ported 4 BBl heads and CAST Weiand TR with 2 750 BG's on it that would get ALMOST 800, 798 I believe was the best. That OEM headed deal back in the yearly '90's did 2.23Hp/inch. We never dyno'ed the motor when we switched to the C302B heads, but picked up 2 tenths in the 1/4. Car was IHRA B/D record holder for 5+ yrs. Don't even recall when we lost the 7.40 record.
With todays tech, I know there was a TON left there from a couple of 30 yr old guys with a back-yard built 356. YES It is easier to get power in the small motor.
