SB2.2 Valve Lash

Post by smallblockcamaro »

I'm using sb2.2 heads on a standard deck height and standard lifter layout dart iron eagle block.  It has Jesel 1.90 aluminum rockers, 7mm titanium intake and stainless exhaust valves. The cam card calls for 0.020" lash hot.  What would be a good starting point for a cold lash setting?  Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

My iron block (4cyl) with SB2.2 grew a reliable and stable .006". I used .014" cold lash and it was right on.

Yup, backing 006” out is the way it pretty much pans out from what I have seen of Aluminum heads!

Thanks. What rocker ratio and what material do you have?

I agree but wasn't sure how much an effect the 1.90 ratio has along with them being aluminum.

Assuming .020 hot lash is based off 1.5 ratio.

.020/1.5=.0133 .0133*1.9=.0253

.020/1.5=.0133 .0133*1.9=.0253
My card actually states 0.016" lash factored for a 1.50 ratio which is 0.020" for the 1.90.

Oh ok, I misunderstood your question.

No problem, good thinking though. I feel thats something that can easily be overlooked.
