hydraulic lifter metering disc orientation.

hydraulic lifter metering disc orientation.
I have been having problems with collapsing hydraulic lifters. They were new, but were noisy from day one. On the advise of of members here, I pulled the lifters and cleaned them. Upon disassembly I noticed the metering discs did not all have the same orientation. I have to wonder about the factory assembly methods. All of the used factory lifters I looked at had the small diameter raised area facing up. Could this be my problem? download/file.php?mode=view&id=26163

So much to do, so little time...
Re: hydraulic lifter metering disc orientation.
Well........ I don’t think the orientation of that disc would have any impact on whether the lifter pumps up or not.
That disc is there to restrict/meter oil to the pushrods, and that is independent of the check valve at the bottom of the plunger that’s there to trap oil in the pressure chamber.
Basically...... the check valve and metering disc are at opposite ends of the lifter internals.

Somewhat handy with a die grinder.
