I will be pulling it out in the next couple of days and I just know it wasn’t like that when it was installed and running a fingernail across its total length you can feel it hang up.And isn’t it kind of difficult to scratch a hardened polished surface even with a file. But I’ll have it magged and see what the results are.And Thanks for your Replies

Sure won't look like a scratches, at least not ones that come from foreign particles when engine is rotating. For me they look like a cracks that are coming from oil drillings, little ones coming from cross drilling hole edges and that long one from main oil drilling. From picture it isn't visible if that line is perpendicular to oil drilling though.

Any idea how the crank would have gotten scratched like that? Seems really strange.

Passed magnaflux, yes?
When I first saw the pics I thought of someone with lack of control with the dremel tool while deburring the oil hole.

Never seen cracks that big. That crank wouldn't be in one piece if they were cracks.

The the broad buzzy ones just look strange. Kind of like a vibrating engraver's work...
They all look wide and fuzzy to me, but a poor man's Zyglo (wipe of solvent followed with a puff of flour) would be revealing.

There was always something not quite right about all this, who put the shortblock together ?

Can't imagine anyone not noticing that on assembly ...... or doing it just removing a cap, however awkwardly .......

Had a guy bring back a block because it had a crack right in the side. Luckily it wiped off, since it was just a string of permatex sealant.
At least that did look like a crack.
