Killer BEE valve seats.
I just had my first and last experience with these valve seats. It wasn't pleasant way too much tool wear and resharpening for a stinkin' valve job. If you guys are having great experiences with these I'd like to here what tooling you're using, if your thinking about trying them in something, try something else. From boring and shortening them in the lathe before install to cutting seats on the VGS 20. It was just a fight the whole way. I hope this helps someone.

Re: Killer BEE valve seats.
IMO they are the best seats available. I even use them for titanium valves.

C630 for me is a 1000 times easier to work with, and just not that much more money. Spark were rolling off these things just blending the ports. I must have got some from the special batch.

Ductile Iron for stainless is just to easy, I've been look at some of these powdered metal junkalloys lately but they just aren't what I'd hoped.

Re: Killer BEE valve seats.
Your trying to tell me you had sparks off the seats while you were blending?
That's total nonsense. Every GM head, every new Dart casting has these things.
Re: Killer BEE valve seats.
Yes, I resharpened a carbide boring 2 times boring 6 seat in the lathe and resharpened my seat cutter 2 times to cut 6 seats. It was ridiculous.
Maybe they got their powders mixed wrong that day. I even checked the part number on the insert with the catalogue to make sure. I'll pull the rest out the trash and send you them to see if they are like the ones you use.

Re: Killer BEE valve seats.
Are these killer bee inserts a powered metal.
Is there any risk of them being brittle and chipping or fracturing in extreme use

Chad...... what are you using for a guide and seat machine, and what tooling system for seat cutting?
Typical spindle speeds for those seats with your tooling?
Any mods to the rake on your cutters?

Somewhat handy with a die grinder.

Yes, powered metal. GM uses it with all LS and uses it with a CrN coated Delwest in the LS7.

I have an EXACTA DD, I use Newen 3D tooling. Typical spindle speed is 4-500 with a sharp cutter.
No rake.

Re: Killer BEE valve seats.
Didn’t you used to have a VGS-20?
Did you use the 3D tooling with that machine?
If so, did you use similar cutting speeds to what you’re using now?
