Post by Caprimaniac »

Is 0.01’’ (0,25mm) enough?

Theoretically if nothing moves that should be enough but I sure would not leave it that way myself. I would replace the bolts with something that has a little shorter head. Either that or just grind those down some. Personally I would want to have at least .040" or so.

I wouldn't run it like that, so agree with Bill ...... 40thou / 1mm minimum

Grind it off the bolt head ..... shouldn't affect anything else

Or get some lower profile HT bolts (M6?)

Thanx - you two agreed to my thoughts. Will put a 0.8mm shim between crankgear and balancer/ dampner.

ATI makes shims and summit has them, was just looking at it the other day, think they were .095

Or you could just chuck up the bolts in a drill and grind the ends like like said

Engine in the car now. Thought things had moved… so I did a last check before fire up. Still 1mm clearance.
