Might be worth checking out the new(er) stealth trick-flow DHC double hump look-alike heads. Paint them orange and no one will know....

I'd do you a pair of heads, but I'm in Australia, so that's probably not gonna work.
You only need like 260cfm, dead easy, can do it with camel humps or whatever 64cc chamber heads that take 1.94 or 2.02" intakes from the factory, don't even need to push them hard.
My last personal sbc was a 355 with stock crank & rods, old style TRW forged slugs, 258/264 on 108 solid flat cam, 1.6 rockers, moderately ported 462's with 2.02/1.6 valves, 11:1 comp, match ported Vic jnr intake & a 750. It made 47xhp.
Never got to run it on the strip, strip was shut for about 8 years, but would have been an easy 11 sec engine.
Lots of fun on the street too, had 4000 converter, 4.44 gears & 28" tall 275 drag radials.

Yes to edm lifters & remove inner springs for break in.

Don't be scared to give it duration, with enough stall bigger cams are still quite streetable, converters & carbs have come a long way, a 260 deg at .050 cam doesn't need to be a pig on the street these days.

I'm still looking for 030's or 292's. I sent a guy an email and a text from this board yesterday that said he had some 030's... No response - yet.

Best to weight this car.. Its over 3600# (no A/C)
It won't get in the 11's with the planned sbc and 3.73's.
Mid 12's best with that. If you can get mid 12's out of it at #3800 with 3.73s / 4 speed trans (355 or 383 build) you have done a respectable job.
If you will be using a SFT camshaft, yes get the EDM lifters.

Help me find some heads. I honestly didnt think finding some vintage iron heads when we are spoiled with aluminum these days would be this difficult. I bet most of them are being stored or being used as a display in a garage, just sitting there.

If anyone thinks they are going to save a build for the electricpocolypse, you gotta long way to go! Sell them to someone who will use them for the right reasons.

I missed the 4spd part. What's 3rd gear ratio?

I dont know what code Super T10 it is. The car is still fairly new and I have yet to crawl under there. It could be 1.23, 1.33ish or 1.47ish.
Guys keep mentioning stall converters, this baby is a 4 speed and will stay a 4 speed.

Let us know what you find. This changes everything since stripe rpm will be much higher with an effective gear ratio of 4.59 or 4.96 (assuming it's not the 1.46 box).

I know of a set of unmolested 461 heads ($400+ freight), but you are way too far away. A nice set of ported and race prepped ready 291's just went here.. Gone..
Lots of used up junk.. I don't even look for those heads anymore..
Find a late set with bolt holes eg 492 or 034 cast bowties.
Local to you.
Send them to Larry Meaux if he'll take that job.
It won't be cheap.

A 454 based 468 Big Block chev motor 560Hp (ported oval ports 10:1) will cost the same and WILL RUN 11'S IN that car with 3.73's.
It will be much more of a interest at car shows, cruises
than another sbc camaro.. 560 hp is barely breakin a sweat
You'll be glad you did.

I have a friend that gave the aluminum 461 heads from speedway a try for his 63 corvette.

.040 over 327 with hypereutectic domes
Herbert flat tappet 235/245 105
Weiand dual quad intake

Made 435hp 390tq.

I'm almost certain with a bowl blend, single plane, and a cam in the 250s it would have made another 50-60hp

That being said, a well prepped 350,383 or 396 would make 500 fairly easy.

You should only need 485-500 to run deep into the 11s. You can do that with a set of very ported 186 heads, or some sportsman 2 heads with a fluff job on an 11:1 350.

No need to overcomplicate something that has been done millions of times before the 90s

My 70 corvette ran 11.80s with some worked over 186 heads i did in my apartment in college and a victor Jr. M21 3.55 car. Simply bolting on a set of dart 200 platinum picked it up .3 and 5mph was a 350/350 short block with a 255@.050 sft.

You need a combined first gear ratio about 12:1.

It's probably been mentioned above, but I haven't read every post in detail: If the car won't hook, it'll never run to its potential. I don't know what the OP has, or will have, for tires & suspension to go along w/ his new engine and stick trans, but having a kick-butt retro-style engine is only part of the package to achieving those ETs. More than one "12 second car" never got out of the 13s due to unresolved traction issues. More power simply makes the problem more obvious.
