Jones Cams small HR Dyno

Post by Keith Morganstein »

This is a build from a few years back. It was fired up with a base tune and then the car was restored for another three years.

It’s a LM7. 5.3 LS engine. Very mild build. Bored .020”, squared decked, stock heads with stock valve sizes, LS6 valve springs, LS lifters, stock intake, etc..

I asked Jones for a smooth idle, quiet operation along with an increase in performance.

The cam specs are 212*/218* @. .050”, .312”/.312” lobe lift, 114* LSA.

The car (69 firebird, LS swappped, 4L60e trans. Conversion headers) finally went for its tune session.

Nobody was expecting big numbers and they aren’t.
What stands out is the big flat torque curve along with respectable RWHP for a mild small cam build.

Real nice!
I don’t know how you could do better then that in NA form without a severe HP loss!
You can cut a man's tongue from his mouth, but that does not mean he’s a liar, it just shows that you fear the truth he might speak about you!
